Take the Limits Off of God

Do you ever stop and look at the wonder of God? Do you ever stop and take it all in? Whether you are driving down the road. Or maybe you are out for a walk. You could just be sitting on your front porch or back porch. Do you ever just stop and take it all in? Creation is a beautiful thing. In Genesis chapter one we learn of God’s creation. God created the heavens and the earth. He created birds and trees. He created the animals big and small. He created you and me. And what is even more wonderful is that He created you and me in His image. In Genesis 22:15-18 it tells us that God said He would bless Abraham because He obeyed Him and that all his descendants were blessed.

“The angel of God spoke from Heaven a second time to Abraham: “I swear God’s sure word! Because you have gone through with this, and have not refused to give me your son, your dear, dear son, I’ll bless you oh, how I’ll bless you! And I’ll make sure that your children flourish like stars in the sky! Like sand on the beaches! And your descendants will defeat their enemies. All nations on Earth will find themselves blessed through your descendants because you obeyed me.” (MSG)

Are we not all descendants of Abraham? If we are descendants of Abraham, then we are entitled to the blessings bestowed upon Abraham. It says so in His Word. Now if we are descendants of Abraham then why are we not marveling at and in the goodness of God? Why are we not walking in the blessings and favor bestowed upon us by our Heavenly Father? Malachi 3:10 tells us that He will open up the windows of Heaven for us. It does not say window. It says WINDOWS with an ‘s’. That means He is going to rain down blessings and favor upon us. But in doing so we have to be obedient just as Abraham did and trust God. We must take Him at His word.

One day I looked up into the sky, and I tried to imagine what it would be like for God to rain blessings and favor down upon me. I tried to imagine what it would look like visually. Do you know that if you look up at the sky you can see that it goes on and on? It is infinite. Just think for a moment if we were to trust God, take Him at His word. If we were to be obedient by giving our tithes and offerings. Being obedient by also sowing seed and helping others that the WINDOWS of Heaven would truly open up for us. That the blessings would flow just like the sky. That the blessings and favor would flow infinitely. Take a moment and just look up at the sky and compare it to how much God wants to bless you. As far as the eye can see and further. Have you seen the sun burst through the clouds before?  It is like suddenly a ray of light emanating from the sun bursting in different directions. Close your eyes and picture that burst in the sky and visualize all your blessings and favor pouring down from each of those directions. God is not wanting to bless you a little bit. God wants to bless you with more than you could ever imagine or hope for.

Many of us are blocking that blessing. I am including myself in that equation. Because we limit God on what he wants to do for us. We limit God in how He wants to protect us. We limit God when allowing Him to love us. We limit God on how he wants to meet every one of our needs. We set such a low bar for God to achieve. We put a limit on God. Take the limits off. Take the restraints off God. Remove the strongholds. Stop limiting it to one window and dream of WINDOWS!

We will tell God, “God you do just this then I will be satisfied”. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (NIV) His grace is sufficient. His power is made perfect in weakness. His power rests upon you beloved. Do not be satisfied with just getting by. His words are more than sufficient for whatever you may need. In John 14:13 Jesus says, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son”. (NIV) God is waiting on us to ask Him for whatever it is we need. He is waiting on us to believe Him for whatever it is we need. And do not ask for something small. Your Father has mansions. Your Father has silver and gold. Do you think that little bit that you are asking for is all that He can afford? The one thousand dollars that you are asking for is pennies to our God. He wants you to ask for millions. He wants you to ask for the mansion. He wants you to ask for the Mercedes and Cadillac. He wants you to have nice clothes and jewelry. He wants you to ask for Louis Vuitton. He wants to bless you. Put Him to the test, His Word will not return to you void. I promise you. Stop blocking your blessing.

There are some of you that God has placed a dream inside of you. He has placed a business inside of you. He has placed a book inside of you. He has placed a non-profit organization inside of you. He has placed a dream inside of you. He has placed a ministry inside of you. Stop blocking the blessing. You have blocked the blessing because you have been trying to figure out how you are going to make it happen. Let me tell you something, if God placed that dream inside of you then He is more than able to make it happen. He is more than equipped to make your dream a reality. Stop trying to figure out how you are going to make it happen. Go to God in prayer and say, Father, I hear you. I know this dream; this desire is from you. Help me to make it a reality. Give me the guidance I need to bring it to life. Tell me what to do Father. I trust you.

I also want to say this, when He gives you these dreams, these desires, it is not going to be an easy road to travel. He needs believers who are willing to stay the course. Believers who are willing to not give up when the going gets tough. Believers who are willing to stay in the fight no matter what. Some of us want to give up at the first sign of adversity. We want to give up when the first door is slammed in our faces. We want to give up the first time someone says no. Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. (NIV) If He says that in His Word do not think He is not going to bring it all to pass. Do you not believe that He knows what He is doing? He is going to guide you along the way. Do you think that He did not know already that you were going to hear the word no? Do you think that He did not already know you were going to encounter adversity during this journey? Of course, He did. His Word said He knows the plans. He knows the plans. So, if He knows the plans then He also knows what you would encounter on the journey. Trust your Heavenly Father. Take the barriers off. Take the limits off God.

As we journey through this path called life. We are going to have many ups and downs. We are going to have good times and bad times. We are going to have things go our way and we are going to have things not to go our way. Do not give up the fight. Carry on with what God has planned for you. If you want the moon ask God for the moon. If He gave you a dream, follow through on that dream. Stay the course that God has for you. Do not just settle for a little bit, settle for the sky’s the limit. And remember the sky goes on and on which means your blessings go on and on as long as you believe. Remove the brakes and stop limiting God on how and when He wants to bless you. Stop limiting God.
