Kamilah Perkins, founder of the Village Foundation, shared her journey and motivation behind working with underserved teens on college preparation. It all began in her first year of teaching when her request to use class funds for a college tour was denied. Believing that early exposure to college is crucial, she founded the Village Foundation to provide students with resources and opportunities for college transition. Over the years, she expanded her efforts through student summits and spring break college tours, eventually developing the KJP Group and Prepare for Purpose Model to help students align their gifts and interests with their career preparation.
