From Kitchen to Global Recognition: Mompreneur Courtney Smith Shares Her Faith-Fueled Journey

Courtney Smith, the visionary behind the flourishing haircare brand Cristina's Curls, isn't your average entrepreneur. Often compared to the iconic Madam C.J. Walker, Smith's path is a testament to resilience and unwavering faith. Driven by a desire to address her daughter's sensitive skin and a passion for natural beauty, Smith transformed her kitchen into a haven for crafting safe, effective haircare products specifically for curly textures. In this exclusive interview, Smith delves into the power of faith in her life and business, the challenges she conquered, and sage advice for aspiring entrepreneurs navigating uncertain times.

Courtney Smith, often hailed as a modern-day Madam C.J. Walker, is a trailblazing entrepreneur who has revolutionized the haircare industry. As the founder of Cristina’s Curls, a successful international haircare brand, Smith’s journey from a single mom’s kitchen to global recognition is a testament to her unwavering dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. With a background as a licensed esthetician, Smith combined her passion for beauty with a deep understanding of skincare to create products that cater to the unique needs of curly hair. Her commitment to quality, transparency, and empowering women has propelled Cristina’s Curls to international acclaim.

How has your faith influenced your personal and professional life?

Faith has played a major role in my life, business, and motherhood. There are times when I feel overwhelmed and in those moments I remember that God has blessed me with this business and children, so he will surely be my strength to overcome any obstacles I face.

Share a challenge that you faced with starting Cristina’s Curls, and how your faith helped you overcome it:

A challenge I faced when I first started Cristina’s Curls was, that I experienced ‘burnout” from trying to do everything on my own. I was making products, labeling bottles, filling bottles, answering emails, etcetera and I hit a brick wall. I then quickly realized that if I wanted this business to succeed, I had to delegate. Fast forward, I now have a team that can handle the day-to-day tasks, which allows me to complete big tasks, that only I can perform.

What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs who seek to build successful businesses during these uncertain times?

My advice is to start slow and do your research. Also, find your niche and target audience because everyone will not be your ideal customer.

What is next for you and how can readers support the Cristina’s Curls brand?

We limit God when allowing Him to love us. We limit God on how he wants to meet every one of our needs. We set such a low bar for God to achieve. We put a limit on God. Take the limits off. Take the restraints off God. Remove the strongholds. Stop limiting it to one window and dream of WINDOWS!

The Greatest Gift of All

Christmas is not about the gifts under the tree. It is not about making lists for Santa, a man in a red suit who rides around in a sleigh driven by reindeer. It is not about Christmas Cards and potlucks and such. It’s not about buying a Christmas tree and hanging stockings by the fireplace. It is about the birth of Christ.
