A little while back during Bible Study we were asked the question; “Who is God to You”. Many people responded with “He is my everything, He is my all and all”. And then the question was asked what does that mean? What does it mean that He is your everything? So, I am asking you that question today. Who is God to you? Who is He?

A little while back during Bible Study we were asked the question; “Who is God to You”. Many people responded with “He is my everything, He is my all and all”. And then the question was asked what does that mean? What does it mean that He is your everything? So, I am asking you that question today. Who is God to you? Who is He? If you do not know who He is to you, how can you thank Him for all He has done for you? The best way to get to know our Heavenly Father is to one, read His Word, two, fellowship with other believers, and three, put His Words into action. Let’s look at these for a moment.

1. Read His Word

There are many versions of the Bible. They are broken down in various ways to help the learner understand who is speaking, who or what the setting is, and understanding how to apply the passage to their lives. The best way to find out who God is; is to read His Word. He will tell you who He is. While reading His Word you find out the different names He is called.  And as you find out all the names, you begin to realize that you can call on Him at any time referencing those names. They begin to be a part of your spiritual growth and understanding of who God is. Here are a few. There are many more.

Elohim

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God (Elohim) created the heaven and the earth”.

Yahweh – He is “I Am” (Genesis 2:4)

EL Shaddai: God Almighty (Genesis 17:1)

Jehovah Jireh: My Provider (Genesis 22:14)

Jehovah-Nissi: My Banner (Exodus 17:15)

EL Elyon: The Most High God (Genesis 18:14)

Jehovah Rapha: My Healer (Exodus 15:26)

Jehovah Shalom: Lord of Peace (Judges 6:24)

Jehovah Raah: The Lord is My Shepherd (Psalms 23:1)

2. Fellowship With Other Believers.

Strengthening your relationship with God is very important. You need to fellowship with other believers. You should find a good church home and attend services. Being around like-minded people, you can gain a better understanding of the Word and how to apply it to your life. This also helps you to see the Word in action. You need to attend Bible Study. Attending Bible Study will help you to gain a better understanding of the Word. Attend various functions at church. Be a volunteer and utilize your gifts to help grow the church. Be a disciple and disciple others about God and who He is. Become part of the Evangelism Ministry. Go out into the neighborhoods and spread the Gospel of the Lord.

3. Put His Words into Action

Reading the Word of God is very important. Attending and becoming a member of a good Bible-based church is also important. But if you do not apply what you have learned how will it help guide you through life? God does not want us to go through the motions. God gave us the Bible to help guide us through life. God gave us the Bible because He loves us. God gave us the Bible to help us to build a relationship with Him. It is through spending time in His Word and the application of His Word that we can have the opportunity to get to know Him. We can build a relationship with Him. We can live a life of love, peace, and happiness. We can live the life God had always intended for us to live.

Doing these things will help you understand who God truly is. Once you know that and see Him moving in your life you can express who He is to you. God did many things and is still doing so much today. But in His Word, we learn that He parted the Red Sea. He also blessed Abraham and Sarah with a baby. He made Moses a King. He helped David slay Goliath. God protected Daniel in the lion’s den. When Job was tested, He blessed Him with double the amount he previously had. And what about the miracles that His son Jesus did while here on earth? He fed 5,000 plus with five fish and two loaves of bread. He healed a woman with the issue of blood. He healed a blind man. And there is so much more. All scriptures of love, encouragement, peace, happiness, and some struggles, but also the means to overcome the struggles and hard times.

When the question is asked “Who is God to you”, you should be able to respond by rejoicing and giving Him praise and honor. And you have implemented those three things. You should by then be experiencing the goodness of God. And it is so easy for you to honor Him. To be able to express your love for Him. Say, thank you for watching over me while I slept last night. It should be easy for you to shout out how good He has been to you. You can tell Him thank you for your life, health, and strength. Thank you, God, for watching over my family. Thank you, God, my bank account is overflowing. Thank you, God, for my job. Thank you, God, for my children. Thank you, God, for opening the windows of Heaven for me. Thank you, God, blessings are raining down upon me. “who is God to me?” He is my provider. He is my all and all. He is a shoulder to cry on. He is my prince of peace. He is my joy. He is my strength. He is my joy. He is my happiness. He is my problem solver. He is my healer. He is my hope for tomorrow. He is a way maker. He is my friend. He is my comforter. He is my encourager. He is everything to me and so much more. He is God all by Himself. He is the head of my life. He is my strong tower. I could go on and on. God is my all and all. That is who He is to me. Who is God to you? Who is He? Is He someone you call on only when you need something? Is He someone you rock with only when you don’t know what to do? Who is He to you?

I want you to take a moment and write down what God is to you. And then take another moment and thank Him for it. Give Him praise and Thanksgiving for the things you have listed. Every night you should end your day giving Him praise. Every night you should end your day by telling Him thank you for the blessings you received that day. And the next morning when you wake up, you should wake up with praise on your lips. Telling Him thank you for watching over you while you slept last night and waking you up to see another day. Every day be thankful for who He is. He is El Shaddai, Jehovah Rapha, Jehovah Shalom, and El Elyon. He is love. He is Yahweh. He is “I Am”. This is who He is to me. Who is He to you?
